About Us
The UIC Department of Philosophy is an internationally recognized department with an active graduate and undergraduate program. Our sixteen faculty maintain a vigorous program of research and scholarship. We provide undergraduates with training vital to a humanistic education, including fundamental ideas of values and conceptions of the world; a general knowledge of the philosophical tradition; and skill in clear thinking and sound argument. We train graduate students to become professionals who can carry on the missions of humanistic education and research in philosophy through the analysis, understanding, and development of the fundamental concepts of the field.
